FemCatholic is launching the book club you've been waiting for

You want to be able to talk to modern feminists and have an explanation for Catholic teaching.

You want answers - not fluffy, bite size answers - but real historical, philosophical, scientific answers on tough issues.

You want to hear from women - women who are experts on these topics AND consider themselves feminists.

You want to connect with other women asking these same questions - Catholics, living in the real world, trying to figure out how faith fits in and what true empowerment for women looks like.

Why a book club

In 2016, modern feminist champion Emma Watson launched a revolutionary book club called Our Shared Shelf. Through her work with UN Women, Watson had begun reading a variety of literature about equality: “There is so much amazing stuff out there!" she wrote. "Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering!”

Our Shared Shelf has hundreds of thousands of followers, and has sparked a revival of interest in feminist issues.

Modern feminism is rising in the United States and around the globe. Women's Marches and media campaigns fill our news feeds and dinner conversations.

We're excited to see more people learning and talking about feminism - and how we can make the world a better place for and with women.

And we need to be ready to participate.

If we're going to engage in these discussions - whether at a coffee shop or among co-workers, we need to be educated too.

If we're going to engage in these discussions - whether at a coffee shop or among co-workers, we need to be educated too.

In the past 10 years, I have read SO many books that shaped my views of women, in society and in the Church.

Some were autobiographies, some were philosophical apologetics, and some were essays by incredibly insightful catholic women.

It's time that I share those books with you.

That's the mission of FemCatholic:

Educate women

Through the FemCatholic book club, we can learn from the experts together. Not just experts on church doctrine - but on sex, women's health, relationships, theology, and female leadership.

Encourage women

... to explore our questions about how this faith + life thing is supposed to look. You can't engage secular feminists until you dive into your own questions, and develop a well-formed perspective, from both theological and secular sources.

Empower women

Through the FemCatholic book club, I want to equip all of you passionate, intelligent women with the knowledge to know and explain your beliefs. I want you to be confident that your Catholic faith is something empowering to you as a 21st century woman, and that it is truly the key to becoming your most fulfilled self.
